The 3 Alarms: A simple system to transform your health

Over the last 20 years, Eric has studied and modelled the traits and habits of the world’s most successful people, in order to help his teams and clients break through their barriers and reach their highest potential, in both their work and life. This easy-to-digest book pulls that learning together so this award-winning entrepreneur can reach a wider audience – those who are stretching towards success but recognise an imbalance in their life.

In a bid to be part of Maslow’s 2% Club, Eric starts his story with a rude awakening – a heart attack during a flight home from a business meeting. This book incorporates his own story plus learnings from some of the world’s leaders in peak performance, motivation and health. Eric takes you through his simple system to transform your life with just 3 alarms to be set daily.

During his research on peak performance and after defining how he wanted to be his best in the three domains of his life – health, wealth and relationships – Eric decided to set three daily alarms to remind himself to embody the characteristics of his best self.

Eric has spent his time seeking out experts, so his book gives you a head start on some key peak performance habits. He believes everyone can become extraordinary and whilst you may have come across some of the theories before, Eric offers practical advice on how you can take action.

Chapter 7 was of particular interest to me as Eric discusses stress and how we deal with it. He suggests using The Pause as a way to reframe our response to stressful situations… no doubt something particularly useful to many people this year. How much better could you perform in all three areas of life if you could have an optimal response to stressors?

Eric also weaves in some experiences from his time with Chilango, Skype, and McKinsey & Company plus his health and marriage in crisis, showing you don’t have to be perfect to offer others some great advice. In fact, if it wasn’t for the challenges he’s faced, he wouldn’t have felt the need to take a drastic change in how he approached his performance in life. This is one of those books where once you’ve read it, you’ll have at least 10 people in mind to recommend it to.

The 3 Alarms by Eric Partaker is available from Amazon priced at £10.12. And if you’d like to learn more about the practical tools in the book, please head over to Eric’s website where you’ll find free training and additional resources from the author.
