Dr Graeme Malcolm OBE is CEO and founder of Glasgow-based M Squared Lasers and co-chair of the Quantum Technology Leadership Group, representing the industry to government.

M Squared’s lasers provide the world’s purest light, which can be used to address some of society’s greatest challenges, including improving healthcare and providing the scientific understanding to help halt climate change.

Dr Malcolm’s quantum work is particularly pivotal in our understanding of the scale of CO2 and methane emissions, with M Squared’s lasers used by European Space Agency (ESA) satellites to track emission levels in the atmosphere caused by human activity with an accuracy never previously achieved.
