Podcast power

Video marketing is getting increasingly more and more important. Content marketing should not just be about adverting your product or service but also to position yourself as a thought leader and expert in your industry and keeping your brand front of mind. This is great in theory but, for smaller companies especially, coming up with original content week after week can be both tricky and time consuming.

Creating professional quality edited videos takes a lot of time and expertise

However, one possible solution for cost effective video marketing is to produce a weekly video podcast interview. A video podcast is one of the easiest, cheapest and fastest type of video content to make, and you don’t need a huge amount of technical know how to do it.

The process is very simple, come up with a brand for your podcast, for example ‘meet the expert’. Then record an interview on a platform like webex or zoom, you can use the record function on the platform itself to do this.

To really make your video podcast stand out you can brand it up with your logo, graphics and name captions and add subtitles using either an editing tool like Adobe or iMovie or an automated platform like shoutout.social Finally, you post your finished interview on social media.

These video podcasts are becoming more and more popular and are a fantastic way to provide interesting and informative content to your potential customers. They do not need to be long interviews also. I have a weekly video podcast called ‘5 minute expert’ and the interviews are just 5 minutes long. You can cover a surprising amount in 5 minutes and it’s not such a big ask for the interviewees. The whole process from start to finish takes under 10 minutes.

As well as posting on social media you can host these video podcasts on your website to drive traffic there, as well as post an audio only version or the full video version to platforms such as Apple and Spotify.

Like all content marketing the key is to produce videos consistently. Even if people do not watch your videos, it’s gets your brand out there and shows people you are active on social media. You can also invite existing and potential customers to appear on your video podcast as it’s a great way to get to know them better. Nobody likes being sold to constantly and video podcasts are a way to add value to people as opposed to just selling to them.
