Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of speaking at countless events and working with some of the world’s most recognisable brands. I absolutely love what I do and that will never change. But recently, something happened that reminded me of the importance of staying connected to the heart of where I began.
It all started at an event in Bristol. I’d just finished speaking when the Q&A rolled around, and a CEO from a local charity stood up. But instead of asking a question, he made a statement that stopped me in my tracks.
He said, “Eight years ago, you gave a free spot on your Easy Peasy Sales course to a member of my team – Claire. Your course gave her the skills and confidence she needed, and that one day not only changed her life, but has helped to transform the lives of countless elderly people living in poverty”
Wow. Needless to say I cried.
I remember Claire. Back then, I ran a sales training course for small businesses and often gifted free spaces to those working in charities, like Claire, to help them improve their confidence and fundraising efforts. Hearing how it had such a profound impact all these years later – it really hit home. I came back to the office and told the team, and their response was crystal clear: “Alison, you need to host another live event. This is the kind of change people need.”
At first, I laughed. After all, I had stepped away from the stress of ticket sales and event logistics, focusing more on my corporate clientele. I couldn’t go back, could I?
Turns out I could. By not opening the doors to the public to share my teachings, I am depriving people of life changing knowledge. And that’s why I’m hosting SMASH IT!® Live – a one-off event designed to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.
You see, I had stepped away from hosting my own live events. I’d been focusing on working with corporates, with clients like Adobe, Amazon, and easyJet. But hearing how my original events had left such a lasting impact reminded me of why I started doing them in the first place. It’s a chance to reconnect with people who might not have the opportunity to experience my corporate workshops or sessions.
Here’s the thing: Going back to where you began doesn’t mean you’re moving backwards. Sometimes it’s the step you need to take to move forwards in a bigger way.
For me, this event is about more than business. It’s about helping people transform their mindsets, boost their confidence, and overcome whatever is holding them back. It’s about real, lasting change, the kind that can shift the trajectory of both personal and professional lives. That is what I am passionate about.
So, if you’re ready for a change – ready to SMASH IT! in your life, in your career, in everything – I hope to see you in Bath in January 2025.
