Celebrating our female high-fliers could scarcely be a hotter topic right now. In promoting her new book Lean In, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg has both inspired and ruffled feathers in the way she has championed the most ambitious of female executives, showing that the call to recognise the huge wealth of female talent in high-profile business roles has never been higher. At Elite Business, we too are proud champions of female entrepreneurs, which is why we’re very happy to hear that once again the NatWest everywoman awards is scouring Blighty for the hottest female professionals it has to offer.
Now entering into its eleventh year, the everywoman awards has been pivotal in recognising the movers and shakers amongst female business owners. Former winners such as Chrissie Rucker, Jo Malone, Cath Kidston, Liz Hobbs and Dame Mary Perkins represent some of the most influential players the nation has to offer. And given that the Institute for Small Business and Enterprise reports female small business owners contribute an estimated £50bn – £70bn to the economy each year, it’s excellent news that this scheme is once again open for entrants.
