The top ten countries for university research and development

It's common to see ideas become reality from dormitories in Silicon Valley but universities globally are pumping more money into R&D to ensure potential entrepreneurs get what they need. We bring you the top ten countries to watch out for

From Facebook and Google to Time magazine and WordPress, well-funded universities can foster the best conditions for entrepreneurs to chalk up groundbreaking ideas in their dormitories. In fact, 2015/16 spawned 3,890 graduate startups across the UK according to HESA, the education statistics agency. However, Britain is only the 18th best country when it comes to funding research and development (R&D) for higher education. Blighty only spends 0.42% of its GDP on university R&D compared to Switzerland’s 0.9%. And with British universities only receiving £3,587 per student, it seems the UK has a long way to go before it even makes the top ten.
