Michelle Mone is reportedly to join Dragons’ Den

The co-owner of Ultimo could be next in line, filing one of the empty seats left by three departing Dragons

Small starts can lead to big success in business

We are big Dragons’ Den fans here at Elite Business and its many successful ventures grace our magazine on a regular basis, from personalised children’s book company, Lost My Name to breakfast cereal connoisseurs, Spoon. Therefore it saddens us to hear of the departures of Kelly Hoppen, Duncan Bannatyne and former EB cover star Piers Linney from the BBC 2 show, leaving Peter Jones as the only remaining original Dragon.

Never fear though, as Britain is full of entrepreneurial talent and when one Dragon leaves there are plenty more ready and willing to take their place. First up, reportedly, is bra tycoon Michelle Mone, who is also a headline speaker at our upcoming National Conference and Exhibition. Often considered one of the UK’s top female entrepreneurs, the co-owner of lingerie firm Ultimo has been recognised by the Queen with an OBE honour for her contribution to the industry. She has built a hugely successful career on an incredibly simple concept: giving today’s women what they want.

BBC bosses will also be happy to have finally snapped her up, given that she has previously turned down five offers to join the show due to having too much going on to devote her full attention to the Den. Now may be the perfect time to get on board then as the Scottish millionaire has recently sold 80% of Ultimo.

Speaking last year on turning down a place on the show, Mone said: “We’ll see – never say never.”

You can catch Mone on day two of the Elite Business Event National Conference on March 19 by registering for tickets here
