Seven Hills appoints Emma Johnson as managing director

Some of the UK’s most successful companies may not be where they are today were it not for Seven Hills, the award-winning campaigns company founded by Michael Hayman and Nick Giles in 2010. The likes of Ella’s Kitchen, King of Shaves, WANDisco and Cobra Beer – familiar names to Elite Business readers – have all felt the magic touch of Hayman, Giles and their fellow campaigners. And, such is the regard in which Seven Hills has come to be held, the firm has today announced the appointment of Emma Johnson as its new managing director.

Johnson joins Seven Hills from the Communication Group Plc, where she served as group managing director and chair of the management board. She has led campaigns to drive trade, tourism and talent for a number of destinations including Dubai, Edinburgh and Liverpool, while she can also count the former London 2012 Athletes’ Village among the successful campaigns she has led in the capital. Most recently, Johnson was responsible for leading a team to support the GREAT Festival of Creativity in Shanghai working with entrepreneurs and business ambassadors to promote creativity in business.

Her appointment to Seven Hills is part of a series of important hires for the company, which include the recent appointment of Kerensa Jennings, the BBC’s former head of strategic delivery.

“I am extremely excited to be joining Seven Hills at such an important time for the business,” said Johnson. “With a raft of new business assignments and new team members joining the consultancy, shaping the next chapter for the business is a task I greatly looking forward to leading.”

Giles said: “At this important stage of development for the business, Emma will be pivotal in harnessing the talent of our team and fast tracking an exciting new phase for the firm. She will greatly add to the firepower of the Seven Hills team and her strengths in corporate communications and destination marketing will bring a new level of depth to the firm’s capabilities. The new role of managing director is part of the commitment that we have to building the senior team at Seven Hills and continuing the growth that we have seen since launching in 2010.”

Hayman added: “Emma and I worked together for some five years and she is one of the most gifted consultants I have had the pleasure to work with. The strength she will bring to the senior team will be formidable and marks a major part of the growth strategy for the business.”

Fresh off the back of the release of Giles and Hayman’s brilliant book Mission, the good news just keeps on coming for Seven Hills.
