CV-Library reveals: the worst employee habits UK bosses hate the most

Although being your own boss gives you the power to realise your vision, it also lends itself to a whole lot of stress. At times you may feel like a glorified janitor picking up the pieces of work and deadlines left by employees rather than the owner of a business. Now, new research has shed light on which employee habits frustrate UK head honchos the most.

Having surveyed 200 employers, CV-Library, the job board, found that a staggering 62.6% find their employees frustrating from time-to-time. Moreover, out of the top factors driving employers crazy, showing up late to work took the number one spot in people’s minds at 54.2%, followed by complaining to colleagues instead of resolving issues with the boss at 41.2%. Interestingly at the lower end of the list sucking up to the boss didn’t prove to be an issue for 98% of employers. Instead, their feathers were only slightly more ruffled by ungrateful employees and those making ridiculous demands at 6.5% and 14.4% respectively.

Commenting on the findings Lee Biggins, founder and managing director of CV-Library, said: “As the boss, you have to manage your own workload, whilst also organising your team. It’s understandable then that you can become frustrated with them at times, especially when they aren’t sticking to the rules. However, it’s important that you build positive relationships in the workplace, especially with your staff. This means that open communication is key.”

“If you feel that your employees are breaking the rules or not being as productive as they should be, it might be time to have a chat with them to explain the behaviour you expect at work.”

Building communication and trust with employees is key to achieving a cool mind for bosses. Either that, or perhaps communication and trust with a yoga instructor.
