Are these the most memorable things during the Brexit process so far?

The deadline for Brexit may have been extended until Thursday October 31 but that hardly means the uncertainties surrounding the EU divorce proceedings are over. As we’ve found out, some business owners may face the extension with dread given how it’s already impacted their supply chains and their access to talent. Although some – like sex party company Killing Kittens which has seen a rise in attendance at its erotic events – may look forward to it given the divorce has already meant an engorgement of their profits.

No matter what side of the argument you may find yourself, at least we can all look forward to soon hearing more funny, odd and noteworthy things being said about Brexit. If the last three years have been any indication, what people say will be full of new awkward moments and unforgettable quotes.

Here are some of the ones we have been gifted during the process already.

“Brexit means Brexit”

Theresa May’s catchphrase has echoed across the Twitter in nauseam since it was first uttered in the run up for the Conservative leadership contest in 2016.

“He called all this on. Where is he? He’s in Europe, in Nice, with his trotters up”

Actor Danny Dyer launched into a expletive-rich tirade about David Cameron on Good Evening Britain.

“The free trade agreement that we will have to do with the European Union should be one of the easiest in human history”

While his chutzpah can be applauded, secretary of state for international trade Liam Fox’s 2017 assumption that the Brexit negotiations would be a breeze seems slightly erroneous in retrospect.

“Of course Brexit means that something is wrong in Europe. But Brexit means also that something was wrong in Britain”

The European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker commented on the 2016 referendum results, arguing that 40 years of lies about the EU was behind the Brexit vote.

“Fuck business”

Boris Johnson proved his diplomatic touch when a Belgian ambassador enquired about the concerns a hard Brexit would cause corporations.

“Are you insane?”

Sky News’ Adam Boulton’s pointed question came after Brexiteer MP Mark Francois had argued for a no-deal Brexit, something Boris Johnson had said was insane two days after the referendum.
