There’s something cooking in the world of foodtech. Not only have food delivery services like Deliveroo recently received new competition from startups like Halalivery but scaleups like Gousto and Yumpingo raised significant investments lately. Now catering booking platform startup Feast It has upped the competition with a £1.7m investment.

And the funding round isn’t backed by just anybody. While you would expect a VC firm like Ascension Ventures to back this startup, few entrepreneurs can boast having Guy Berryman, the bassist of Coldplay, and Dragons’ Den star Sarah Willingham as their investor. But Feast It can.

The startup was founded in 2017 by Hugo Campbell and Digby Vollrath. It enables customers to book caterers on the platform for their own events. This new round will reportedly enable Feast It to continue to expand its services and help small businesses scale.

Speaking with Business Daily, Vollrath, Feast It’s CEO, said: “In 2019, we’re aiming to quadruple the amount we’re making for our supplier partners. We have big growth plans and we’re firmly set on full UK coverage, with a continued push to find the best suppliers across the country, starting with Edinburgh and Belfast.”

We wouldn’t be surprised if the clocks at the startup’s head office are showing that it’s time to celebrate by playing Viva la Vida.
