Debbie Wosskow and Anna Jones have unveiled the new funding platform to make the UK the best place in the world to be a female entrepreneur

New platform Allbright launched to boost British female founders

Any woman launching a startup has guts. Not only do most new businesses fail but given that according to a CrunchBase report only 10% of global venture-capital funds target female-led businesses, it’s safe to say that the odds aren’t in favour of women that take a gamble on launching a startup. Fortunately, a new platform plans to reshuffle the deck.

Allbright is a new funding platform that aims to discover, fund and support the UK’s best female entrepreneurs no matter if they’ve just launched their business or run established businesses. Co-founded by Debbie Wosskow, founder and CEO at Love Home Swap, and Anna Jones, CEO at Hearst UK, the platform combines an angel-investor network, a crowdfunding platform and a training centre. “AllBright isn’t just about providing the capital, we understand that for businesses to scale they need the confidence that comes from having access to the relevant skills, technology, knowledge and people,” said Jones.

And female founders on the platform will certainly not be short on that as they’ll benefit from the accumulated knowledge and experience of Allbright’s advisory board. It includes a slew of prominent business leaders such as Lord Mervyn Davies of Abersoch, chairman of Corsair; Lou Cordwell, CEO of Magnetic North; Lord Peter Gummer Chadlington, serial entrepreneur and president of the Witney Conservative constituency association; Tammy Einav, managing director of adam&eveDDB; and Alexandra Chong, founder of Lulu.

“There is some exceptional female business talent in the UK just waiting to be discovered and accelerated,” said Wosskow. “I’ve been on the journey they are making and understand acutely the difference accessing the right funding and support can make, as do our network of angel investors.”

Given that the UK is brimming with female talent, it’s encouraging to see an initiative that’s taking advantage of that fact.
