Former Dragons' Den investor Piers Linney appointed as first ever ambassador for non-profit organisation to support SMEs and entrepreneurs

GEN UK supports Britain’s entrepreneurial ecosystem through leadership, networking and sharing of knowledge

Piers Linney is well-known for championing small businesses, bringing invaluable experience to the table as a beacon of light to SMEs and entrepreneurs during these challenging times. Now the Dragons’ Den investor is looking to share his vast knowledge and skills as an ambassador for GEN UK, a non-profit organisation that brings entrepreneurs and businesses together to share ideas in a collaborative network.

GEN is a global entrepreneurship network operating in 180 countries. GEN UK supports the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the UK through leadership, networking and knowledge transfer. Piers will be representing the organisation’s UK branch, presenting the face of GEN UK to government departments, NGOs, commercial enterprises, business communities and other bodies in the UK and even internationally. Piers will be the first person to take on the role of GEN UK’s ambassador, making this a true milestone for the organisation.

GEN UK will work with Piers to strengthen collaborative efforts and financial support from prospective partner organisations, enabling GEN UK to create a positive impact through its events and activities.

Piers will also offer strategic advice to the GEN UK’s board about their evolving role and direction, supporting the organisation’s plans to expand and grow. Piers, a former Non-Executive Director for the British Business Bank and a champion of entrepreneurship, SMEs, will bring invaluable advice to GEN UK with his vast background of experience, including his roles as an entrepreneur, adviser, executive or non-executive board member, investor and lender.

I’m delighted to accept the role of Ambassador for an organisation doing such key work for the UK’s small business community, Piers Linney said. The entrepreneurial ecosystem here in the UK, and indeed across the world, is all about mutual support, connection and sharing of expertise to fuel growth. I’m keen to get started in my new role, and see a great opportunity in working with GEN UK to help create a thriving and diverse SME community.

Piers has been a key campaigning voice for small businesses, delivering campaigns to highlight the importance of SMEs as a backbone for the British economy. He also has a passion for boosting diversity levels across the board.

We are hugely excited and honoured to have Piers joining our team, Marc Ortmans, Chair of GEN UK, said. He brings invaluable business experience and counsel to the table, and we look forward to working together. GEN UK is going through a period of expansion, and it’s vital we have support from the biggest names in British business to help SMEs and entrepreneurs grow during these challenging times.
